Dr. Mozammel Huq
Dr. Mozammel Huq bron in Kakina in 1940. He passed matriculation from Kakina Mahima Ranjan Memorial High school in 1956 and completed his gratuation from Rajshahi University. Later on he took his M.Lit and PhD from the University of Glasgo. He is an internationally renowned economist. His career includes extensive teaching and research on Third World development. A major focus of his research work is on economic development and industrialisation, which he has viewed very closely by observing the development experience especially of Bangladesh, Ghana and Nepal. He is actively associated with teaching in well known universities of Asia,Africa and Europe.
Mozammel is the author of a number of books including, The Economy of Ghana: The First 25 Years since Independence (Macmillan, London, 1989). Mozammel is also author of three studies of technology choice and development covering leather, fetilizer and machinery manufacturing in Bangladesh (published by University Press Ltd, Dhaka, 1991, 1992 and 1993).
Mozammel has also edited several books including:
Building Technological Capability: Issues and Prospects - Nepal, Bangladesh and India (UPL, 2003).
Along with Anthony Clunies Ross and David Forsyth, he is currently writing a development economics textbook, to be published by McGraw-Hill:
Development Economics: Issues and Policies in the 21st Century (forthcoming).

Mozammel has been a consultant to the ILO, EU, UNDP and the Commonwealth Secretariat, and has also served as a Visiting Fellow of the University of Nigeria and the Bangladesh Instutute of Development Studies, and also as a Senoir Research Fellow of the CDS, University of Cape Coast; and Professor of Economics at M C College, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
